Bing Webmaster Tools and the Engines That Read Bing’s Index

Bing is a search engine, and it is also the index underneath Copilot, Yahoo and much of DuckDuckGo. That makes its webmaster tools worth connecting.

Bing’s own share of search is modest. The index behind it is not. When Microsoft Copilot looks something up, when Yahoo shows results, and when DuckDuckGo lists traditional links, Bing’s understanding of the web does a large part of the work.

That is why Bing Webmaster Tools is one of the three integrations in RR Daily Authority. It is the closest thing to a dashboard for a whole family of search boxes and assistants.

    Who reads Bing’s index

Microsoft Copilot grounds its web answers in Bing. In most markets, Yahoo search results are powered by Bing. DuckDuckGo runs its own crawler but says it largely sources traditional links and images from Bing. ChatGPT search draws on third-party search providers alongside OpenAI’s own crawler, OAI-SearchBot, so it is worth making sure that crawler is not blocked. None of these services publish a formula, so treat Bing as a strong common input rather than a guarantee.

    The AI Performance report

Since February 2026, Bing Webmaster Tools shows how often your pages are cited as sources in Microsoft Copilot, AI-generated summaries in Bing and select partner experiences. It lists total citations, the pages that were cited, and sample grounding queries: the phrases the AI used when it went looking for sources. A June 2026 update added intents, topics, citation share and period comparison. It is one of the first official views of AI citations from a major engine.

What Authority does once Bing is connected

Authority reads your Bing clicks and impressions into the dashboard, submits your sitemap, and resubmits it whenever a sync sends new or changed pages. Bing does not report an average position for a whole site, so that number appears for Google only. IndexNow reaches Bing on every publish whether or not you connect.

    Getting verified

Add your hub in Bing Webmaster Tools, or import it from Google Search Console if you have already verified it there. On your own domain, DNS verification works. On a Review Revolution hosted address, copy Bing’s meta tag into the verification card in Authority and your hub will show it. The details are in hosted hub or your own subdomain.

    What we will not promise

Citations in Copilot or ChatGPT are decided by those systems, one question at a time. We will not promise them. We will keep publishing pages that answer real questions clearly, and make sure Bing knows when they change.
