    Google Search Console, AI Overviews and AI Mode: What the New Report Shows

    Search Console now separates impressions in Google’s generative features from classic results. Here is what it tells you, what it leaves out, and how it fits with daily publishing.

    For a long time the most common question about AI Overviews was simple: do my pages show up there at all? Search Console could not answer it separately. In June 2026 Google started to, and by the end of August the report was open to sites worldwide.

    RR Daily Authority connects Google Search Console for every hub that verifies its property. Here is how to read the new report next to the numbers you already know.

    What the generative AI report counts

    Impressions: how often a link to your page appeared in AI Overviews or AI Mode on Google Search. You can break them down by page, country, device and date. Google Discover has a report of its own. The report lives in Search Console itself, so open it there when you want the AI view of a page.

    What it does not count yet

    There are no clicks and no queries in the generative AI report, and experiments in Search Labs are left out. You can see that a page was shown in an AI answer. You cannot yet see which question triggered it or whether anyone clicked through. Read it as visibility, not traffic.

    How it fits with the numbers in Authority

    Queries, clicks and average position still come from the regular Performance report, which Authority brings into the dashboard. Put the two side by side. A page that appears in AI Overviews but earns few clicks may already answer the question in the summary, which is worth knowing before rewriting it. See what impressions and clicks are telling you.

    How new pages reach Google

    Google does not take IndexNow. When pages publish, Authority resubmits your sitemap to every connected Search Console property, and URL inspection shows whether a specific page has been indexed. After that, timing is up to Google’s own crawl schedule.

    Connecting it

    Verify the property that matches your hub’s address. On your own subdomain you can verify with DNS or the HTML tag. On a Review Revolution hosted address the HTML tag is the only route: paste it into the verification card in Authority, click Verify in Search Console, then connect the property in Authority.
